As part of the risk mitigation undertaken by Project Air 5077, Project Wedgetail or Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C), the Defence Materiel Organisation established a single company Standing Offer to provide a wide range of technical, logistics and project related support.  This arrangement gives the Project a single point of access to a considerable pool of expertise and knowledge available across many companies that support project activities.

In 1999, QinetiQ Consulting was contracted to lead a "Contractor Support Network" of local and international companies to assist Defence establish the AEW&C Capability.  QinetiQ Consulting's AEW&C network, currently comprising six local and four international companies, has undertaken in excess of 60 specific risk mitigation assignments for Project Wedgetail across many domains including:

• Specialist Engineering (communications, data links, radar, EMI / EMC, simulation etc),
• Integrated Logistic Support,
• Software and Systems Engineering,
• Software Metrics Analysis,
• Test and Evaluation,
• Requirements Analysis,
